HOW IS LIFE COACHING DIFFERENT FROM COUNSELING?

Life-coaching and counseling do different things.  I am a family therapist. When people come to me for counseling, they usually want to heal an emotional wound or correct a negative pattern of interaction.  We often explore the person’s past to understand the source of the problem.  Personal growth usually involves the individual becoming better able to acknowledge and express their emotions.

The coaching relationship is different.  Life coaching works from the premise that people are creative, resourceful, and whole, and have, within them, the ability and resources to solve their own problems.  Because of this, life coaching allows you to work on improving an aspect of your life without declaring a personal deficiency.

As your disability coach, I’m going to join you on your journey of self-discovery where you take on the challenge  of moving from where you are to where you want to be.

I believe that people with disabilities and their families can live wonderful lives.  What holds us back  isn’t the particular disability; its what we our selves.

We all have voices inside our head, voices of self-doubt that limit our life.  They tell us to be realistic.  They tell us we’ll likely fail.  They tell us to settle for others think is feasible.

I want to help you defy those voices, so you can take control of your life, and move towards what you want, not what you think you can get, but what you really, really want

You don’t need to be extraordinary to create an extraordinary life.
